MRRJ records apply to a person actually held there. It is not proof that every Highland arrest is transferred to MRRJ.
Use the contacts according to the record or custody stage.
- For a new Highland arrest or a current location question, call the Sheriff first. The county custody and records overview explains why an empty regional roster is not a final answer.
- For an adult arrest or incident record held by the Sheriff, or an adult initial-intake photograph held by that custodian, send a reasonably specific request to the Sheriff and the county FOIA route.
- For a confirmed MRRJ transfer, check the official MRRJ public roster for current custody, then direct an existing-record request to MRRJ’s FOIA Officer.
- For a court case or final disposition, contact the Highland Combined General District/J&DR Court at 165 West Main Street, P.O. Box 88, Monterey, VA 24465, (540) 468-2445, or use Virginia’s case-information system. Court clerks do not hold jail booking photographs.
- For a person in state custody or supervision, use the Virginia Department of Corrections Inmate & Supervisee Locator. It is not a fresh Highland arrest list and does not promise photos.
- For covered local or regional custody-status notifications, use Virginia Jail VINE. VADOC’s NAAVI program is the separate notification system for eligible victims when a person is in VADOC custody.
